Who We Are
The Useful Simple Trust is an employee-owned group of design, engineering, and sustainability businesses working to create a more regenerative built environment. We believe that the climate and biodiversity crises are interconnected challenges, requiring solutions that reduce emissions, restore nature, and deliver lasting social value.
Our approach is rooted in creating positive impacts for people and planet through our design, engineering and consultancy projects.
We have committed to achieving carbon neutrality and net-zero aligned emissions by 2030.
"The Trust is committed to blazing a trail in the regeneration of our built and natural environment to meet the needs of all people and the planet. We believe all organisations have a responsibility to reduce their carbon impact to mitigate the worst effects of climate change."

Environmental Impact & Action
We acknowledge the environmental impact of our operations and have committed to achieving carbon neutrality and net-zero aligned emissions by 2030.
This commitment is supported by an approved Science Based Target and our Climate Transition Action Plan [see link below], which sets out practical actions to measure, manage, and reduce emissions across our operations and supply chain.
Having recertified as a B Corp with a score of 123.3 in 2024, we continue to embed sustainability into how we design, operate, and make decisions.
Alongside reducing emissions, we recognise the value in supporting high-integrity, UK nature recovery for residual emissions that cannot yet be eliminated.
By investing in projects such as The Great Fen: Speechly's Farm through Wilder Carbon, we are helping to restore vital habitats, increase biodiversity, and support resilient landscapes, while ensuring carbon finance contributes to genuine, independently assured environmental outcomes.
